Hey there, fight fans! Yesterday was all about UFC Fight Night, and I've got some epic takeaways for you. Whether you're a die-hard fan or just looking to get more into the sport, I've jotted down some thoughts on the main card fights that might give you a new perspective as you tune in next time.

Main Card Review

I focused on three fights from the main card, and here's what went down:

Darren Elkins vs. Daniel Pineda

This fight was absolute fire right from the start. The first round had some intense back-and-forth action. Daniel Pineda was taken down a couple of times, but man, his neck attacks were smooth. It reminded me of the sequences I show my students: transitioning from guillotine to anaconda to D'Arce. Even though he couldn't quite secure the choke, his technique was on point.

Darren Elkins, on the other hand, is a grappling beast. With a background in college wrestling and training at Team Alpha Male, he's no stranger to neck attacks. It's impressive how he handled the pressure.

Kyler Phillips vs. Rob Font

Next up, we saw Kyler Phillips take on Rob Font. Phillips' ground control in the first round blew my mind. Holding down a veteran like Font is no easy feat. Font eventually worked his way up, though, and showed great takedown defense as the fight progressed.

Font's approach to pressure was clever. He didn't chase Phillips but cut him off strategically, using small movements to conserve energy.

Michael Pereira vs. Andre Hernandez

The main event of the night was between Michael Pereira and Andre Hernandez. Pereira landed some solid body kicks early on, but Hernandez showcased some unique techniques. His spinning hook kick to the thigh was something you don't see every day—an old-school move that reminded me of Andy Hug from K-1 days.

Pereira made a risky decision in the third round, going for a guillotine and ending up stuck on the bottom. Hernandez took full advantage with relentless ground and pound.

Hernandez was throwing it along with the volume and just the pressure.

A great performance from Hernandez, who's definitely someone to keep an eye on in future fights.

Conclusion

Overall, the night was filled with impressive tactics and standout performances. From grappling transitions to unique striking techniques, there was a lot to learn from these fights.
